PSi was contracted by Glenzeil to develop a twenty meter underground personnel tunnel under the main entrance of the gold coast casino, which had to be tunneled through loose sand.
Daily issues encountered were pedestrians, noise, and vibration constraint, and restriction for the movement of equipment. The development of the tunnel included installation of canopy tubes in the backs and walls, and full grouting which enabled us to control the sand movement. We then excavated for the steel sets every 800mm. Once in place we then completed the project by shotcreting the sets in.
The project was fully completed on time without loss time injury or disturbance to the casino.
